You don't need a professional player's setup to get started. Choose darts that feel comfortable, suit your board and stay within your budget.
1. Match your board
Steel tip darts are designed for bristle dartboards. Soft tip darts are for compatible electronic boards. Check the product's tip type before buying.
2. Choose a weight to compare
If you've already played with a comfortable set, use its weight as your starting point. If you're new, our suggested comparison is 22g, 23g and 24g steel tip darts. This is a starting point, not a guaranteed fit; trying different weights helps you find your preference.
3. Look at the barrel
Check the length and diameter as well as weight. A straight barrel gives you room to vary your finger position; shaped barrels offer a different feel. Compare the grip texture in the official product photos and description. More grip isn't automatically better for your release.
4. Set your budget
Brass sets can be an affordable way to get started. Tungsten is denser than brass, allowing slimmer barrels at a comparable weight. Compare the full specifications rather than choosing on tungsten percentage alone.
5. Check what's included
Read each product's “What's included” details before adding accessories. Flights and shafts are replaceable, so you can experiment with your setup later. Check compatibility before choosing an integrated flight system.
